who we are

We are a growing group of community members in Yellowknife organizing for a permanent ​ceasefire in Gaza, and safety and freedom for Palestinian people.

We organize to support the calls of the Palestinian Youth Movement and to pressure our ​local Member of ​Parliament to stand up for justice in Palestine and end ​Canadian ​complicity in this genocide.

We are part of a national network building a mounting chorus ​of voices in key Liberal ​ridings across the country—and we ​invite you to join us!

Call on our MP Michael McLeod to do ​everything he can to bring about:

• an immediate and permanent ceasefire ​by ending Canada’s complicity in ​genocide
  

• a two-way arms embargo on Israel, ​including arms trade via the United States
  

• an end to Israel’s siege on Gaza

More than 24 labour and community organizations, including the national Palestine Solidarity ​Network, have joined together to demand the Canadian government impose a full, immediate ​arms embargo on Israel. Over 40 MP’s, including 20 Liberal MPs, have signed on. Ask Michael ​McLeod what is holding him back.

We have hosted several events over the last 9 months including

marches with speakers and over 200 attendees, film screenings, community potlucks

and multiple fundraiser events collecting over 50,000$.

You may have also seen our rallies outside the federal Greenstone building, Michael McLeod's ​office, and the Legislative Assembly. We have also organized municipal and territorial level ​campaigns with over 600 signatures supporting our call for Canada to end its complicity in the ​genocide of Palestinians by Israel.

We are looking to start regularly scheduled letter writing and phone zap events, so keep an eye ​out for those as well!

Our fundraising committee NWT4Gaza has been doing incredible work raising funds for families ​Gaza that have direct and indirect ties to the NWT community. Funds are distributed directly to ​families as we receive them and are being used for urgent day-to-day survival. You can also ​donate directly by etranfer to: nwt4gaza@gmail.com
